This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data in compliance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

1. Information We Collect

a. Information You Provide

• Account Data: Name, email address, phone number, and professional credentials for transport providers.
• Business Information (Drivers): Vehicle details, licensing info, and subscription billing preferences.
• Communication Data: Records of your messages when you contact our support team.

b. Information Collected Automatically

• Location Data: We collect precise or approximate location data from mobile devices to enable trip scheduling and route optimization.
• Technical Data: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, and operating system.
• Cookies: We use essential cookies to manage your login session and security.

c. Third-Party Data Processing

We use trusted third-party service providers to facilitate our platform:

• Stripe: We use Stripe for payment processing and subscription billing. Your financial details are collected directly by Stripe and are subject to the Stripe Privacy Policy. We do not store full credit card numbers on our servers.
• Google Maps: Used for maps and geocoding. Subject to Google’s Privacy Policy.

2. Lawful Basis for Processing

Under the UK GDPR, we rely on the following legal bases to process your data:

• Performance of a Contract: To provide the software services you have subscribed to.
• Legal Obligation: To comply with tax, accounting, and transport safety regulations.
• Legitimate Interests: To improve our platform, prevent fraud, and maintain security.

3. Data Retention

We retain your personal data only as long as your account is active or as necessary to fulfill legal and tax obligations (typically 6 years for financial records in the UK).

When you delete your account it is closed immediately and your details are removed from the app. A restricted copy of your identity details and uploaded documents is kept for a limited period, so we can deal with safety disputes between drivers and passengers and respond to lawful requests from the police or other authorities. That copy is not visible anywhere in the app and is not used for any other purpose. Completed trips and payment records are kept without your personal details, because they also relate to the other people on those trips and we are required to retain them for legal and accounting purposes.

4. Your Rights (UK & EEA)

As a user, you have the following rights regarding your data:

• Right of Access: Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
• Right to Erasure: Delete your account and personal data yourself, at any time, from the profile menu in the app or at highwaytaxi.com/deleteAccount. You do not need to contact us to do it.
• Right to Rectification: Request that we correct inaccurate info.
• Right to Object: Object to processing based on legitimate interests.

5. International Data Transfers

Our management operations are located in Jordan. By using our services, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred to and processed in Jordan. We use Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) to ensure your data receives the same level of protection as it would within the UK.
